The council of state earlier this month decided to increase fees for non-EU students from €170 to €2,770 a year for a bachelor’s degree and from €243 to €3,770 for a master’s, despite the Constitutional Court previously ruling that free access to education was a constitutional right.
France has been a major destination for international students looking for low cost education, as the fees charged by national universities were affordable.
